Welcome, 20 August 2008

The Distillerie Durbino S.p.a. company boasts three production factories: Genova, Udine and Berchidda (SS).

The factory in Genova, founded initially for the production of the famous Amaro S. Maria al Monte and all the time specialized in spirits and syrups production, in 1998 went through a deep restructuring, as a consequence extension and modernization of production and storage areas.

The Company, traditionally, dedicates special attention to quality and to working processes, strictly handicraft, such as the preparation of Amaro S. Maria al Monte.

Well-known and appreciated from connoisseurs for its genuineness and its digestive properties, Amaro S. Maria al Monte, is realized following scrupulously the original preparation methods according to an old recipe coming from the monks of the monastery of S. Maria al Monte and handed down since middle ages.

Nowadays the production unity in Genova, after the technological evolution of the production line, is able to propose high quality products and wide production, directed to satisfy the requirements of the national and international markets.

Distillerie Durbino, founded in 1962, is located in the centre of the generous lands of Friuli region, in the territory among: Collio, Eastern Hills of Friuli and Grave del Friuli, wich are areas all the time celebrated for very noble wines productions. The geographical position in which is situated the distillery favours the picking of soft and just pressed dregs coming from the noble grapes of that area. Chardonnay – Sauvgnon – Cabernet – Refosco – Moscato – Traminer – Prosecco – verduzzo are the main dregs of grapes that are distilled. Of course it isn’t missing the distillation, even if is limited, of the most esteemed dregs of Picolit – Ribolla Gialla – Schioppettino grapes.
For several years the production has been extended to “Acqueviti d’uva” obtaining a selection of great refinement distillates. Excel among the others the Acqueviti of Riesling and Chardonnay – Piccolit – Fragolino – Prosecco grapes. In 1994/95, thanks to a joint-venture with prestigious vine-growers from Liguria, saw the light the first distillates of this region: 5 Terre (from Bosco – Vermentino – Albarola grapes) – Pigato – Vermentino – Rossese – Lumassina.
In this distillation process we succeeded in containing all the original fragrances and perfumes of this rapes, excited from the particular processing. Till to-day, such as in the past, distillation is made in copper alembics consisting in little boilers in steam flowing connected with distillation columns at discontinuous cycle and moreover in bain-marie copper distillers at discontinuous cycle of recent conception. With the beginning of 1996 it has completed the expansion and modernization program of the equipment and today the distillery has a capacity of storage in its cellars of about 10.000 hl and a distillation potential of 60/70.000 quintals of dregs beyond the distillation of grapes and fruits. The continuous updating of technologies, the care used by experienced distillation masters, following the most traditional processes of distillation, guarantee a very high level distillates production, present all over the national territories, in the most prestigious wine shops and in the most refined restaurants.

Distillerie Durbino is certainly within the most prestigious Italian companies that produce Grappa and Spirits. Its very high quality products with sophisticated and smart packaging, allowed us to get in very important European and overseas markets, thanks also to a considerable presence of an Italian community that always pay attention to receive the most fashion home products.

The ISO 9002 certification undoubtedly contributes to accredit our image with all the best distributors and importers all over the world, above all the ones specialized in Italian food products.
The goal we set for ourselves is to add new markets to the ones that already exist, sure that, thanks to our quality and our image, our efforts will be certainly paid back.

The factory TANCA DEI PAVONI, restructured in 1996 and at the present time object of new investment and extension programs, is situated in the commune of Berchidda, at the layers of the Limbara massif, which is the Mount symbol of Gallura, in the middle of a typical natural vegetation of Mediterranean bush essences like mirto cisto and sughero in the locality “Sa Ena e Sa Multa” ( the source of mirto), and it expound on a area of about 30 ha.
It isn’t a case if the factory TANCA DEI PAVONI is situated in Berchidda, that is a centre with great enogastronimic traditions at regional levels, in the heart of Gallura, where from popular tradition is born the liqueur “Mirto” till to-day made in observance of the old tradition.

MIRTO
“Mirto, well-known since ancient times because of assuming in itself the symbols of peace, beauty and glory, was considered by the people of ancient Greece and by Latins a plant sacred to the gods. In Babylonia and Israel it was used to make crowns for the brides, in Greece to consecrate the goddess of love, by Romans as a decorative plant, in the middle ages by women as beauty water, called angels water, and they thought it had supernatural, magical, immense properties. The healers of respiratory illnesses and other illnesses used to suggest as the best medicine an infusion of its seeds, flowers and leaves. Mirto is a part of Mediterranean like olive and laurel, and they are evergreen. The same thing about mirto is told also in Sardinia, traditional liqueur of this island, where a lot of people still produce it at home.”

LIMONERO
Always from popular tradition comes the recipe of the lemon liqueur, that in sardinia has particular characteristics, different from the best known similar products made on the continent. The use of the lemons cultivated on Gallura parched land, consents to extract, from the peel so rich of intense Mediterranean fragrances, a liqueur that has unique connotations.

GRAPPE
Also the vines of this Mediterranean island produce grapes full of tastes from which dregs we obtain, following the tradition, intensely scented distillates like Vermentino Grappa and the best known Filuferru.
